4-CT Quickly Makes An Impact, Granting $1 Million Total To Foodshare, Connecticut Foodbank

In the past month well over a quarter-million unemployment claims have been filed in the state of Connecticut amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"“In my entire career, I have never seen a group of philanthropists have as much of an impact in
such a short period of time as 4-CT," said Foodshare CEO Jason Jakubowski.

The financial strain many face has led to unprecedented calls on the state’s food banks, who are working diligently with fewer volunteers to deliver groceries to the many more in need.

4-CT, the Connecticut COVID-19 Charity Connection, a Fairfield County-based independent 501-(c)3 organization launched April 1 that provides financial support to nonprofits serving all areas impacted by COVID-19, has proven pivotal to Foodshare and Connecticut Foodbank, facilitating a $1 million total donation to the two groups.

“These funds will help us provide more than 2.5 million meals to hungry Connecticut residents starting today,“ said Foodshare CEO Jason Jakubowski. “For so many families who are struggling right now through no fault of their own, this is the difference between being fed or going hungry.”

Jakubowski said that he had never seen a group of philanthropists have such an impact in so short a time.

“In just a few weeks, they have come together to raise a significant amount of money and direct much-needed resources to nonprofit organizations like ours, serving those who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. It is making a huge difference.”

“Just five weeks ago, 4-CT was only an idea, but thanks to the generosity of donors throughout our state, we are moving at full speed to support nonprofits on the front lines of this crisis,” said Ted Yang, 4-CT’s co-founder and COO and president of Cantata Media, owner of Daily Voice. “We are just getting started and we encourage those who can help to visit 4-ct.org and make a contribution today.”
